Can you tell us a bit about your dog and their personality?

Whiskey has a little bit of white on all four paws — something so cute that many a little old ladies can’t help but to stop in the street to compliment her on. She is a very sweet, polite, and calm gal, so despite being a BBD (big black dog), she has won over many people who have admitted they are otherwise afraid of dogs, especially big black ones.

She keeps her composure in most situations, including ones that involve vacuums and baths, but she will very firmly (and safely) tell puppies when she’s had enough of their shenanigans.

Does she want a ball? Yes. Does she want to keep the ball instead of letting you throw it? Also yes.

What do you and your dog enjoy most about our dog daycare?

Whiskey loves everyone who works at Paws, and in return they look past her semi-regular hunger strikes and bouts of IBS and tell her she’s perfect every day. The affection and care she receives at Paws is the #1 reason I bring her there.

How has your dog benefited from attending our daycare?

Whiskey has come a long way since she was seized from an abusive home as puppy by a local animal rescue. She used to be afraid of strangers and any new situation. She did not feel safe if I wasn’t with her, which meant she used to destroy things or cry if I left her home alone.

Leaving her at Paws meant she had to learn not just how to be okay without me, but how to learn to trust new situations and new people. Slowly she got excited to go to daycare. It was amazing to see her learn to attach to more people and be so eager to go inside. It is a big relief to be able to relax knowing she is safe and happy at Paws when I’m at work or on vacation.

Is there a memorable experience or moment that stands out during your dog's time at our daycare?

Melissa and Bridget have each “dog-sat” Whiskey, and seeing how over-the-moon happy she was to see them at daycare after having stayed with them was so sweet. There have also been many hilarious photo booth sessions over the years — so many that I’ve made a calendar of them! My favourite is either the one where her wearing Easter bunny ears, or the St. Patrick’s Day one where she’s wearing a tiara.
